‘Aeroplanes achieve existence only when they are hijacked’
Activity #1: Pictus InterruptusIn this activity we had to find a way of obstructing the image in any way, that includes the way you frame it, what is inside the photo, using everyday objects to place infront of the lenses.
I really wasnt too sure what to do with this activity so i decided to take a picture of my phone taking an image with my camera to create this dimensional image which i quite liked. If i were to go back and do it again, i would take a picture on my phone of a zoomed in bit of the gallery picture and then place that infront of the picture and photograph that. |
Activity #2: In other wordsFor this activity we had to partner up and person 1 had to pick the image they liked and guide person 2 blindly over. Person 1 would then look at the image and describe it but without saying familiar objects, eg, people, lockers. Just using words to describe the lines, shapes, patterns, textures etc.

I made a 16 page zine from the images i took from visiting my nan and trying to look out for odd things that stood out to me.
I did this buy collecting my favourite images from that trip and putting them into a template on adobe photoshop and then ive attached a video on the folding and cutting. I really like how it turned out, im trying to figure out different ways of presenting my work and thinking about if my images need captions to get my point across etc. For the next zine, im going to edit the images in photoshop with boarders to make it more interesting than just consistent full bleed images. The images i used are underneath: |
This short video on youtube has given me some insight on what rinko thought about while making this book and taking the images. |

The first exhibition we saw was by Hiroshi Sugimoto at the Hayward Gallery and he had multiple rooms and one was named Theaters. The idea behind it was 'i wanted to photograph a movie, with all its appearance of life and motion in order to stop it again.' In 1976, he did this by setting the exposure time of his camera to match the length of the film that was in the movie theatre. The screen is white is the result of the camera compressing the whole movie into a single image. The white screen is the only source of light in the theatre and it lights up the architecture of the room which were built in the early 20th century. The framing I think was a really unique and and encapsulating way to frame the images and id love to picture my images like this. |
