Today we redid the instructions but with a different photo from the 'Evidence' book and i picked this image of a man who looks like he's being experimented on but i wanted to focus on the photocopy and damaging the image more than the other instructions as i find them more interesting and interactive. So i printed the images in three block colours and cut one up to overlap it on the others. Then with the damaging instruction i got the picture wet in a sink and then dried t under a hand drier and crumpled it up. I then went into the dark room and had to adjust the exposure on the camera so it would work with the red light. Doing this made the lenses really slow so if i moved slightly it made the picture really blurry. However i really like how the red picture came out because you can make out the image but its got movement and i really enjoy photos that are slightly blurry or have a trail behind the objects so id like to work with that a lot more. |
Justine Kurland I picked this artist because i feel like her art is quite political and very motivated by feminism and id really like my photography to be as impactful as that. These are a few of my favourite photos from her exhibition 'girl pictures'. I really like the images because they are so simple but so impactful and calming. My favourite one is the bathroom photo because i feel like a lot of girls can relate to going to the bathroom to get changed or get ready with their friends. It's such a simple thing but its something that i don't think men can relate to and i believe that is what her work is trying to capture, little things that women can relate to on an intimate level. |
As a result of photographing a photograph (the first project we did) we all printed our final images out then picked out 10 different pictures from the classes pile and had to put them into a sequence that made sense with their pairing and how they matched up with the next pair. This was the result. Then it was made into a book, my sequence is chapter four. |
Marys protests cabins
These are three images showing all of the protest paraphernalia that marys collected over the years. She apparently has several small cabins filled with her protests. This really interests me as im trying to link all the images to the title. I think all of the images were taken in a similar area. But i think its really interesting how he photographed protests paraphernalia and the title is parliament of the owls, could be interpruted as modern protests for example people protesting trump being president or british people protesting the toris. |
This is 8 page zine, the pictures i'm using are pictures of me documenting my community and my life. So these are a few of my favourite images that i think go together quite well. I put all my photos into photoshop and then added them to a 8 page template and then printed it out at A4. Then i photocopied it onto A3 and put it onto blue sugar paper and then followed the instructions above. I like how its turned out but id like to make a few more with different photos and and try out different colours and work on my photoshop skills so there arent any white lines between the images. |
This 16 page zine is a little different to the 8 page one as its obviously got double the images and its got one large image on the back so its double sided. Its a lot harder to make but i prefer the 16 page one as you get to show off more of your images in a little book and then when you unfold the book out and lay it out flat you get to see the large A3 photo on the back like a poster. Ive made a few of these but again id like to make a few more with different photos and try it on different coloured sugar paper.
